1 IN 29 SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN IN THE UK HAVE BEEN BEREAVED OF A PARENT OR SIBLING
44,000 CHILDREN ARE BEREAVED OF A PARENT ANNUALLY IN THE UK
Children’s Grief Awareness Week UK, founded by leading childhood bereavement charity, Grief Encounter, is designed to raise awareness of bereaved children and young people in the UK, and how providing those affected with free, professional support can make the world of difference to their future.
Children’s Grief Awareness Week UK is from 15-21 November 2019
Now in its fifth year, Children’s Grief Awareness Week 2019 is a chance for us to come together to show our support for bereaved children across the UK. Organisations across the UK will be showing solidarity with grieving children, young people and their families in their community; raising awareness of their needs and how to help; and fundraising for their service.
Grief Encounter is delighted to be teaming up with the Childhood Bereavement Network, our partners in the Life Matters Taskforce, and member services across the UK to plan the Week.
THE THEME: LOST FOR WORDS
During the Week, we’ll be encouraging the sharing of ideas on social media #lostforwords about how people can help grieving children and their families – even if they think they don’t know what to say. We want to open up conversations and give bereaved children and young people the language and tools to talk about their experiences
